A real-world AI-based infrastructure for screening and prediction of progression in age-related macular degeneration (AMD) providing accessible shared care
I-SCREEN Celebrates Women Advancing Vision Health Through AI
On International Day of Women and Girls in Science, I-SCREEN celebrates the researchers and innovators working to preserve vision for millions.
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a leading cause of vision loss affecting an estimated 67 million people across Europe. At I-SCREEN, our mission is to make early detection accessible to everyone through AI technology, using Optical Coherence Tomography to detect and profile AMD in community eye care settings.
This work represents the intersection of human expertise and cutting-edge technology. It requires diverse minds from ophthalmology, AI research, healthcare policy, medical imaging, and beyond. Women scientists and researchers are essential to every aspect of our project, bringing expertise in artificial intelligence, clinical research, software development, and patient care.
To the women and girls in science who are pushing boundaries in healthcare AI, medical research, and patient care: your work is creating a future where life-long vision is possible for everyone.
To young women considering careers in medical AI and healthcare innovation: this field needs your perspectives to develop solutions that serve all patients equitably.
